This past Monday Amanda had a doctor’s appointment and because Thanksgiving break, I was able to go to this one.
First up was the ultrasound. We were treated to a few lovely picture of our little boy or girl. We were in for a treat because this is when measurements are taken to check the thickness of the sac behind the baby’s head. If the fluid is too thick the baby has an increased chance of having chromosome disorders (like Down’s Syndrome).
The coolest part of the ultrasound (other than getting to see pictures of my child) was that the operator could show the baby from the top down almost like a CAT scan.
Then we went back and saw the doctor. We talked about many medical topics and questions that we had. But then we got to hear the baby’s heartbeat through a pocket sized device, which was really cool.
